What is AHU (Air Handling Unit)

What is AHU (Air Handling Unit):

An AHU is a machine used in buildings or industries to filter, cool/heat, and circulate air.It is an important part of an HVAC system (Heating,

Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).

Main Parts of AHU:

1.  Fan / Blower -Moves the air inside the ducts.

2.Cooling Coil / Heating Coil-Cools or heats the air

3.Filter -Removes dust, dirt, and particles from the air.

4.5Dampers -Control the direction and flow of air.

5.Drain Pan-Collects condensed water from cooling.

6.Sensors & Controls -Maintain temperature, humidity, and pressure.

How AHU Works (Working Principle):

1. Return Air Intake:

cal

Used air from the building returns to the AHU.

2. Filtration:

The air first passes through filters to remove dust and dirt.

3. Cooling / Heating Coil:

In summer, air passes through the cooling coil to get cooled.

In winter, it passes through the heating coil to get warm.

4. Humidification / Dehumidification:

The humidity of the air is adjusted as per requirement.

5. Blower Fan:

The fan pushes the treated air through ducts to all rooms or areas.

6. Fresh Air Mixing:

A certain amount of fresh outside air is mixed for ventilation and air quality.
